Heading home for weekend I spent some valuable time with a large AWS customer talking us through their experience with Generative AI in their software engineering. Characterising themselves as a traditional software development company they find a lot of value beyond the hype. Talking about efficiency gains well beyond “just” creating code and the hype cycle.
Generative AI is transforming software development in ways that go beyond writing code. Its most immediate and surprising impact is on automating routine, non-core engineering tasks, improving overall productivity and job satisfaction. Adoption is being led by junior staff, and the technology is democratizing who can contribute to building software. Leaders should encourage experimentation, be patient with evolving capabilities, and support their teams through the transition.

AlphaEvolve - takes me back into - my - history and into a bright future …
This month Google DeepMind released AlphaEvolve a new AI Agent which evolves algorithms for math and practical applications. In its core it’s combining evolutionary algorithms(SA) with the power of LLM.
Back in university, ouch we talk like 25y back, I studied evolutionary algorithms. EAs are in short an optimization techniques inspired by natural evolution . I tried to prove upper and lower bounds and the positive impact of providing and maintaining diversity in the populations. Hard work, with very limited success on my end. Since then I really looked back into EAs, but they are more relevant than ever.

Dedicated Gen AI Track at AWS Summit Hamburg 2025
There are no two opinions. Generative AI is a topic in 2025. In the upcoming AWS Summit Hamburg we have designed a dedicated Gen AI track for you. No matter if you are a Gen AI expert or you just about to tip your toes into that new and exciting field, we got you covered. But also, if you’re less interested in Gen AI, you will find more than you possibly consume content on the event.

15 days from now, the AWS Summit Hamburg is taking place - wondering about any exciting Gen AI content? With 100+ talks in the agenda, it’s not that easy to spot, but I compiled a list of relevant talks - Have a look in the article and secure yourself a seat (free-of-charge) to join us! #AWSSummit

🤿 The last two days I had the pleasure of joining the AWS Deep Dive Days - Generative AI in our Munich office. The name of the event again, 3rd time already, hold the promise. Deep content from techies for techies. Loved it. ⚠️ Like always the event summary is obviously biased by my preference, my other work commitments during the conference, appetite for networking and an element of randomness/going with the flow (key ingredients for broad explorations). Not possible to cover a 3+ track conference as a single person anyhow. 💚 Each day started with impressive keynotes. At the first day Slavik, like always, blew our minds with loads of interesting thoughts, views and analysis. If we only could have a full-day keynote slot for him to present all his content ;) - Emerson talked about the evolution of Alexa on the 2nd day’s keynote, including a very impressive demo of the upcoming Alexa+. Game Changer. Can’t wait to welcome Alexa+ in my home.

🚂 While I’m enjoying a smooth train ride, I’m working on my presentation for the upcoming AWS Summit Hamburg on 5th June. Could use some help :)
👀 I will be opening the Generative AI track of the summit with my Talk “Gen AI in action: from POC to business value”. During composing the talk content, I realise that there has been so much happening in the last 3 years while GenAI has been in the spotlight for a wider audience. Hard selections to be made.

Currently at the airport and reflecting on the NAB and love to share some impressions and resources with you .
Create. Connect. Captivate. In this year’s NAB edition AWS focussed on 4 showcase stories:
- Radio and podcasts Speed production, migrate operations out of dispersed on-prem facilities, and improve monetization with generative AI and cloud services
- Live cloud production for sports Cloud-based production, playout, and delivery of live broadcasts and events
- Fan engagement Capture and retain audience attention, while providing more interactive and immersive experiences with cloud-based technology
- Multi-channel monetization Maximize advertising revenue while driving customer engagement and personalization across platforms and channels
We showcased 30+ different demos at our booth. Hard choice, but let me highlight two which resonated a lot from perspective:
Fantastic podcast on a fascinating topic. How can I use models to judge and improve model responses?
Fantastic podcast on a fascinating topic. How can I use models to judge and improve model responses? Yuval and Noam Gat dive deep into the topic nicely keeping a conversational style and providing a good overview about the topic. Absolutely loved it a learned a ton. Highly recommended!
Yuval, might be me or the fact that I spent my first coffee in the morning with you folks - and enjoyed it - but at times I had struggle to digest the slides you have been showing - they disappeared very quickly. May keep them up for a little longer in the next episodes. I will definitely tune in 🙂

🗞️ Awesome news. Great new model launch by Anthropic and so good to see availability through Amazon Bedrock right from launch day :)
👷♀️ Can’t wait to see what customers are going to build with it.
🏁 Kudos to Mike to compile everything you need to get started in his post below.
